Baile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta

Dún Garbhán – Baile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta
De réir Acht na Gaeltachta 2012, tá Dún Garbhán ar cheann de 16 ‘Bailte Seirbhíse Gaeltachta’ - sé sin bailte “atá suite i Limistéir Pleanála Teanga Ghaeltachta nó taobh leo agus a bhfuil ról suntasach acu maidir le seirbhísí poiblí, saoráidí áineasa, sóisialta agus tráchtála a sholáthar do na limistéir sin.”

Beidh Dún Garbhán ag lorg aitheantas oifigúil mar Bhaile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta agus tá Coiste áitiúil, Dún Garbhán le Gaeilge, bunaithe cheana féin chun tabhairt faoin bpróiseas seo. Beidh ar an gCoiste seo Plean Teanga a ullmhú agus a chur i bhfeidhm do bhaile Dhún Garbhán. Plean phobail a bheidh ann, a chuirfidh le húsáid na Gaeilge sa teaghlach, sa phobal, sa chóras oideachais, san earnáil ghnó agus san earnáil phoiblí. Beidh an Coiste ag obair le páirtithe leasmhara ar fud an bhaile chun an Plean seo a chur le chéile agus a chur i bhfeidhm.

  • Dungarvan – A Gaeltacht Service Town
As per The Gaeltacht Act of 2012, Dungarvan is one of 16 ‘Gaeltacht Service Towns’ – i.e. towns that are “situated in or adjacent to Gaeltacht Language Planning Areas and which have a significant role in providing public services, recreational, social and commercial facilities for those areas”.

Under the Regulations, Dungarvan will be seeking official recognition as a Gaeltacht Service Town and a local committee, Dún Garbhán le Gaeilge, has already been established to undertake this process. This committee will have to draft and implement a Language Plan for the town of Dungarvan. This will be a community driven plan, aimed at increasing the use of Irish in the home, in the community, in education, in business and in public. The committee will work with interested parties throughout the town to prepare and implement this plan.
