Proposed Variations

Variation No. 4 - Camping Site Policy

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning & Development Acts 2000 as amended and Article 13 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004 as amended and Article 6 of the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC that Waterford City & County Council being the Planning Authority for Waterford City & County has prepared a Proposed Variation to the following Development Plans;

  • Waterford City Development Plan 2013 – 2019
  • Waterford County Development Plan 2011 – 2017
  • Dungarvan Town Development Plan 2012 – 2018
  • The Proposed Variation seeks to introduce new policy provisions which reflect the contemporary and dynamic trends in the tourism accommodation sector, supports the on-going significant public investment in tourism infrastructure and broader public/private tourism initiatives and which protects and enhances the sustainability of existing settlements while safeguarding the natural, built and cultural landscape of Waterford.

    A copy of the Proposed Variation No. 4 together with the Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening report and the Appropriate Assessment Screening report are available for inspection from Wednesday 13th June 2018 to Wednesday 11th July 2018 at the following locations;

  • Waterford City & County Council Planning Department, Menapia Building, The Mall, Waterford City (9.30am – 1.00pm, and 2.00pm – 4.00pm Monday to Friday).
  • Waterford City & County Council, Planning Department, Davitts Quay, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford (9.30am – 1.00pm, and 2.00pm – 4.00pm Monday to Friday).
  • Making a Submission
    Written submissions or observations should be addressed and marked "Proposed Variation No. 4 – Camping Site Policy" and submitted to Waterford City & County Council Planning Department, Menapia Building, The Mall, Waterford City.
    Alternatively, submissions may be made electronically. All written submissions must include the full name and address of the person making the submission and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. Closing date for receipt of submissions is 5.00pm on Wednesday 11th July 2018. Written submissions or observations with respect to Proposed Variation No. 4 made to the Planning Authority within the above said period will be taken into consideration before the making of the Variation.

    Both Variations relate to the Waterford City Development Plan 2013-2019, the Waterford County Development Plan 2011-2017 and the Dungarvan Town Plan 2012-2018 and associated Housing Strategies and were adopted on the 7th February 2017. Screening for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitats Directive (Appropriate Assessment) for both Variations has been carried out and are available here.

  • Variation No.2 - Renewable Energy Strategy
    This Renewable Energy Strategy has been prepared for Waterford City and County in the context of EU and national renewable energy targets. The purpose of this Renewable Energy Strategy is to provide a strategic document which will underpin Development Plans in the county and inform their future review. The Renewable Energy Strategy examines the renewable energy potential for the city and county and considers the strategic planning factors contributing towards the deployment of such renewable energy.

    It also highlights the importance of integrating renewable energy and landuse planning. The strategy forms part of the Waterford City Development Plan 2013-2019, Waterford County Development Plan 2011-2017 and Dungarvan Town Plan 2012-2018, and has been adopted by way of Variation to these plans. It is underpinned by a Strategic Environmental Screening Assessment and a Habitats Directive Screening Assessment which are available here.

  • Variation No.1 - Development Management Standards
    The Development Management Standards Variation to the Waterford City Development Plan 2013-2019, the Waterford County Development Plan 2011-2017 and the Dungarvan Town Plan 2012-2018 was adopted on the 8th of September 2016. Screening for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitats Directive (Appropriate Assessment) for both Variations has been carried out and are available here.

  • The Variation deletes the respective Development Management Chapters in all three Plans, being Chapter 13 of the Waterford City Development Plan 2013-2019, Chapter 10 of the Waterford County Development Plan 2011-2017 and Chapter 10 of the Dungarvan Town Development Plan 2012-2018, save for the zoning objective sections of the Waterford County Development Plan 2011-2017 (Section 10.57) and the Dungarvan Town Development Plan 2012-2018 (Section 10.50) which remain in operation.
