North Quays SDZ Draft Planning Scheme 2017

On the 20th of January 2016 the Government designated the North Quays, Waterford City as a Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). The SDZ lands, which comprise approximately 8.23 Hectares, are deemed to be of economic and social importance to the state.

Waterford City and County Council is specified as the Development Agency for the purposes of the Planning Scheme under the SDZ designation in accordance with Part IX Section 166(3) of the Act. As the designated Agency, Waterford City and County Council has prepared a Draft Planning Scheme. It consists of a written statement and plans indicating the type and extent of development to be permitted in the North Quays SDZ, together with proposals relating to the overall design of the development, transportation, the provision of services, the minimisation of any adverse impacts on the environment and the provision of amenities, facilities and services for the community. It is accompanied by an Environmental Report and a Natura Impact Report.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 169 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, Article 179 A of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment )Regulations 2004 and Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC that the display of the North Quays Strategic Development Zone Draft Planning Scheme, its Environmental Report and Natural Impact Report were available for inspection during normal office hours at the following locations from Wednesday 18th of October to Thursday 30th of November 2017 inclusive:

  • Customer Service Desk, Civic Offices, Davitt's Quay, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford
  • Kilkenny County Council, Area Office, Ferrybank, Co.Kilkenny
  • Central Library, Lady Lane, Waterford City

    Written observations or submissions regarding the Draft Planning Scheme were invited from members of the public and other interested parties including children, or groups or associations representing children.

    Submissions and observations were to be made either electronically or in writing and should state the name, address and where relevant, the details of any organisation, community group etc. represented, and should ave been received not later than Thursday the 30th of November 2017.

    Submission and observations received during the above time periods will be taken into consideration in deciding upon the Draft Planning Scheme. The planning process is an open and public one. All submission and observations are made available for public inspection and may also be placed in the Council's website.
