ALERT: Kerosene odours – Are you affected ?

Waterford City and County Council have had several complaints in recent days  that kerosene odours are present in some houses and gardens in the following areas of Waterford City – the Glen, Ballybricken, Wellington Street, Francis Street. These kerosene odours are emanating from the sewer pipes in this general area.

We are asking all residents in these areas who have an oil central heating system to please urgently check the following:

  • Your Kerosene oil tank and feeder line/filter bowl to the oil boiler for any signs of leakage.
  •  Your oil boiler/heating appliance for any signs of leakage.

If you encounter any kerosene leakage in your property/garden, please take immediate steps to stop/control the leak and get the issue resolved by a qualified plumber.

If any person has any further information on where possibly this kerosene leak may be emanating from, then please contact our customers services department on 0818 10 20 20.

If kerosene odors are emanating from the sewer pipes in this general area , then you have a serious problem. You need an OFTEC certified company ( not a plumber ) to look into this.
