Books of Condolence opened on the passing of former Councillor and Mayor, Jack Walsh
Tributes pour into City Hall and Civic Offices on the passing of a former Mayor of Waterford City Council, Jack Walsh, as a Book of Condolences is opened at City Hall, Waterford and Civic Offices, Dungarvan on Tuesday 8th January 2019. The Book of Condolences has been opened by Cllr Declan Doocey, Mayor of the City and County of Waterford.
Councillor Declan Doocey said “It’s a sad day for Waterford. Jack was a proud Councillor and he represented the people of Waterford for 10 years” The Mayor extended his sympathies to Jack’s wife Vera and his daughters Nina and Lynn, and to his extended family.
Chief Executive of Waterford City and County Council, Michael Walsh said “Jack was an experienced and optimistic public representative in serving the people of Waterford. He was Mayor of Waterford City Council in 2008 and was elected on the same day his brother was elected Chairman of Kilkenny County Council. ”
Cllr John Pratt said of his Labour Party colleague “He was a great friend, a great colleague and a loyal member of the wider Labour Party family. He will be sadly missed by his family.”
Tributes have continued to be made throughout the morning as the Book of Condolences remains open at City Hall, The Mall, Waterford City and Civic Offices, Davitt Quay, Dungarvan and will remain open until Tuesday 15th January 2019 at 5pm.
