Protected Structures

Section 51 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (The Act), as amended, states that for the purposes of protecting structures, or parts of structures, which form part of the architectural heritage and which are of special architectural, historical, archeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical interest, every development plan shall include a record of protected structures, and shall include in that record every structure which is, in the opinion of the planning authority, of such interest within its functional area.

Section 10(2)(f) of the Act also requires a development plan to include objectives for the protection of structures, or parts of structures.
