Expired Public Consultations 2020

Traffic Calming along the L4033, Upper Brown Street, Portlaw

Notice was hereby given pursuant to Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, that Waterford City and County Council proposes to undertake the construction of a traffic calming scheme in the form of a controlled traffic lights and a raised table area to facilitate a safe crossing point along the L4033, Upper Brown Street, Portlaw and also control vehicular movements during peak times (See drawings below).

The main goal is to lead pedestrians to a designated controlled crossing point where crossing of Upper Brown Street is used regularly and in particular more frequently during school opening and closing hours. Construction of a raised table area will reduce speed of vehicular traffic. This scheme will also involve the construction of a new footpath to this controlled crossing point. The implementation of the traffic calming scheme will create a safe environment for all road users with a strong emphasis on non-motorized road users.

The drawings are available for inspection on the Council’s website below but due to the Covid-19 restrictions will not be on public display in our office buildings. However a copy of the drawing and details of the proposal were also available on request from Aideen Jacob, Administrative Officer, Roads Department at the email address below or by contacting 0761102020 from Wednesday 20th May to Tuesday 16th June 2020.

The Council will consider any submissions or observations made in writing regarding the proposal. Submissions should have been lodged with Aideen Jacob, Administrative Officer, Roads Department, Waterford City & County Council, Menapia Building, The Mall, Waterford or by email to ajacob@waterfordcouncil.ie to be received before 4.00pm on Tuesday 30th June, 2020.
