In accordance with Part XI of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice was hereby given that Waterford City & County Council proposes to carry out improvement works to an existing 450m section of sea wall along Clonea Road (R675), townland of Duckspool, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.
The proposed development will comprise the following:
1. Replacement of 80m section of stone sea wall with reinforced concrete cantilever flood wall, with stone cladding façade (chainage 0m – 80m)
2. Raising of the recently constructed 50m section of flood wall by 0.55m, via additional stonework, to achieve the required flood protection level of 3.27m OD (chainage 80m to 130m);
3. Replacement of 320m section of an existing stone sea wall with king post piled wall, with stone cladding façade (chainage 130m to 450m), and
4. Provision of a berm to assist the halting of flood waters and safety barrier across the berm and a section of wall.
The proposed development has undergone Appropriate Assessment Screening under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC), the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, and the European Communities (Bird and Natural Habitats) Regulations 2011-2015. Waterford City & County Council has determined that an Appropriate Assessment is not required. The proposed development, individually or in combination with other plans or projects, will not have a significant effect on a European Site.
In addition, the proposal has also undergone screening for Environmental Impact Assessment under Article 120 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 as amended and Waterford City & County Council has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) is not required.
Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
Drawings and further details on the proposed development will be available for inspection during the period Wednesday 29th June, 2022 to Tuesday 26th July, 2022 inclusive as follows:-

Please note that comments, including names of those making comments, submitted to the Council in regard to this process will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the District Council. Accordingly, they may also appear in the public domain.
