Notice re: Greenway Footbridge, Dungarvan

The Greenway Footbridge adjacent to the Civic Offices, Dungarvan, will temporary reopen tomorrow Friday afternoon. Thanks to all for your cooperation. Please take precaution as temporary surfacing will be in place over the weekend.

The footbridge will be closed for a few hours again on Tuesday morning April 16th. to facilitate permanent macadam reinstatement at location of the works around the air valves.

Road Alert // Flooding due to heavy rainfall

  • Spot Flooding on Waterford to Dunmore East Road R686 – Drive with caution on all roads today.
  • Flooding reported on the R673 – approach road to Ardmore, Co. Waterford.

  • Spot flooding also reported on the R675 Coast road between Dungarvan and Tramore.

  • Spot flooding at the Sweep, Kilmeaden and on approach to Kill village.

With high tide due this evening, already saturated ground and rainfall due to persist until approx. 10pm, motorists are advised to exercise caution, expect that there may be standing water on some roads, reduce speed and be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists.

REMINDER: Temporary Closure of former Railway Bridge/Greenway Footbridge, Dungarvan

Irish Water Contractor, David Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd working on behalf of Irish Water will be undertaking essential Maintenance Work on Air Valves next week from Monday April 8th. to Friday April 12th. inclusive on the footbridge adjacent to the Council Civic Offices. Through Pedestrian and Cycling Traffic will be prohibited during this period of time. Such Traffic will be diverted.

Waterford City Public Infrastructure Project Update

The next phase of traffic management in Ferrybank will commence on Monday 8th April 2024. It is anticipated that this works phase will take six to eight weeks to complete.

The traffic management will consist of closing the left outbound lane and reopening the right outbound lane along Fountain Street, from Rockshire Road to the Abbey Road junction. The two corresponding inbound lanes along this section of roadway will be operational during this phase of works. Access to adjacent local businesses will be maintained at all times and signage will be in place throughout these works and on all approach roads.

Waterford City and County Council appreciates the community’s continued patience and cooperation while this extensive infrastructure project progresses.

Parade Traffic Management Plan
This plan outlines the management of Vehicle traffic for the St. Patricks Day Parade Event to be held on March 17th on the Quays in Waterford City.
Roads shall be closed by Waterford City & County Council Staff using Crowd Control Barriers, traffic Cones and Road Closed Signs.

1. Diversions.

Travelling East on R680 Cork Road.
All traffic for M9, N25 and N24 via Rice Bridge shall be diverted at Cork Road Roundabout and directed to Rice Bridge via R686.
Traffic for Tramore, Waterford Airport, University Hospital Waterford or
Williamstown/Dunmore Road area shall use the Inner Ring Road are unaffected.

Travelling West on R680 Rice Bridge.
The left lane shall be on Rice Bridge shall be closed and all traffic shall be diverted via R686 to R680 Cork Road at the Cork Road Roundabout. All Traffic shall then use normal routes.

Other Routes:
Travelling to Rice Bridge from Tramore, Waterford Airport, University Hospital Waterford or Williamstown/Dunmore Road area shall be diverted via R709 Inner Ring Road to Cork Road Roundabout and the detour via R686.

2. Parking

Parking within the main Quay car parks will be available until approximately 1 hour before the Parade Commences at 1pm and will be reopened 30 minutes after the all clear is called by Event Control. All on-street car parking on the closed roads will be removed 24hours before the parade begins. All other city car parks will be unaffected.

Temporary Road Closure – O’Connell St., Waterford

Notice is hereby given that Waterford City and County Council, in exercise of its powers pursuant to Section 75 Roads Act 1993, propose to close the following road to through traffic from 5.00pm Friday to 12 midnight Sunday each week commencing on 29th March, 2024 to 29th December, 2024.

Road to be closed

  • O’Connell Street, Waterford from its junction at O’Connell Street/Thomas Hill to the junction of Sargents Lane/O’Connell Street.

Diversion Routes (one way system)

  • Thomas Hill (L15021-1) from its junction with O’Connell street towards its junction with Meeting House Lane.
  • Meeting House Lane (L-15022-1) from its junction with Thomas Hill towards its junction with Sargent’s Lane.
  • Sargents Lane (L-15023-1) from its junction with Meeting House Lane towards its junction with O’Connell Street.

Objections or submissions may be made in writing to the “Director of Services, Roads, Water and Environment, Waterford City and County Council, City Hall, The Mall, Waterford” not later than 4pm on 18th March, 2024.

Waterford City Public Infrastructure Project (North Quays) Update

The next phase of traffic management in Ferrybank will commence from Tuesday 20th February, on Fountain Street between the junctions with Rockshire Road and Abbey Road. It is anticipated that this works phase will take approx. 6 weeks to complete.

Warnings and signage will be in place throughout these works and on approaches.

Waterford City and County Council appreciates the public’s continued patience and cooperation while this extensive infrastructure project progresses. When works are complete it will deliver a new realigned section of Abbey Road with increased capacity, while the footprint of the existing Abbey Road will be recreated to a cycle and pedestrian friendly local road access for the schools and nursing home located on this section of the road.

A direct access to the new South East Greenway will also be created.

Revised Traffic Management System – Ferrybank

As part of the Waterford City North Quays Public Infrastructure Project, a revised traffic management system will be installed on Fountain Street and Abbey Road, Ferrybank from January 2nd 2024.

The traffic management will consist of:

  • Closing the free flow lane from Abbey Road onto Fountain Street
  • Closing the bus lane from Fountain Street towards Rice Bridge
  • Re-directing pedestrians from the Abbey Road crossing to the Fountain Street crossing

This traffic management system will remain in place for a number of months.

Warnings and signage will be in place throughout these works.

 

Phase 3 of works at Farronshoneen Roundabout

Phase 3  of the construction works at Farronshoneen Roundabout are due to commence on Thursday, November 16th  and continue for 5 working days until Wednesday, November 22nd.

The works will entail the reconstruction of the east bound lane of the Outer Ring Road coming off the roundabout (i.e. between Farronshoneen Roundabout and Waterford University Hospital).

During this stage all routes will remain open to traffic, however Stop / Go controls will be in place on all four legs of the roundabout for the duration, resulting in some delays to traffic in the area.

Waterford City and County Council apologies for inconvenience caused.

Temporary Road Closure – L5075-3 Knockmeal Road, Caherbrack

Notice is hereby given that Waterford City and County Council, in exercise of its powers pursuant to Section 75 Roads Act 1993, propose to close the following road to through traffic from 2nd to 7th October, 2023 to facilitate the Construction of a Cattle Underpass.

Road to be closed:
• L5075-3 Knockmeal Road, Caherbrack, Co. Waterford.

Diversion Route:
• Via L5075-1 Knockmeal Road, L5075-0 Ballinamult, R671, L5076-0 Drumgorey Road, L5075-3 Knockmeal Road.
