  • Mailing Address: Waterford City & County Council, City Hall, The Mall, Waterford

For example: We can deliver the SEAI Senior Primary “Energy Challenge” workshop. This workshop is interactive, curriculum based and covers the principals of energy, the current global problems and what we can do to help. Students learn about the science of energy and climate change through participation in experiments and playing the ‘energy game’. All round they are very hands on and fun. Suitable for 3rd to 6th class pupils. Waste/recycling workshops are interactive, encouraging pupils to think about the lifecycle of materials, how long they take to breakdown and the recycling process. Biodiversity workshops show pupils the importance of local plants and animals and focuses on what exists locally. There are activities to suit all ages in this workshop.

Green Schools

Green Schools is an international environmental education programme and award scheme that promotes long term, whole school action for the environment. In Ireland the programme is run by An Taisce and schools are assisted locally by the Environmental Services in Waterford City and County Council.

Unlike a once off project, Green Schools is a long term programme that introduces participants (students, teachers, parents and the wider community) to the concept of an environmental management system. It fosters a strong sense of citizenship and leadership among participants that spreads far outside the school into the wider community. It allows children to be part of the decision making process by making them responsible for their decisions and actions.

The award takes the form of a prestigious Green Flag that can be flown outside the school and has to be renewed every two years. For further information please visit Green Schools Ireland or contact us to become involved:
