Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI)

Under the National Climate Action Plan 2021, the government has a set a target of having 945,000 low-emission vehicles on Irish roads by 2030. To support the uptake of these vehicles, Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI) has been established.

This dedicated office will assist consumers, businesses and the public sector to make the switch to zero-emission vehicles. It will collaborate with associated bodies such as the SEAI, the NTA and the ESB to ensure targets are reached.
ZEVI will be responsible for:

  • Policy and Strategy – all related government strategy, including taxation and regulation.
  • Infrastructure – the coordination of activities to ensure delivery of EV charging infrastructure.
  • Vehicles – delivering and providing relevant information, incentives and funding for zero-emissions vehicles.

A dedicated website has been established for ZEVI. It can be accessed here.

Specific grant schemes for electric vehicles and associated infrastructure can be found here.
