In the first instance, we encourage people to apply for Planning Permission online, using the ePlanning Portal.

When is Planning Permission Required?
Generally, you need planning permission for any development of land or property, unless the development is specifically exempt from this requirement.
The term ‘development’ includes carrying out works (building, demolition, alteration) on land or buildings and/or making a material (i.e. significant) change of use of land or buildings.
To apply for planning permission, an applicant should submit a completed ‘Standard Planning Application’ (below) together with all necessary supporting documentation and the appropriate fee to: The Planning Department, Waterford City & County Council, Menapia Building, The Mall, Waterford.
