Stay safe during Storm Brendan

Waterford is currently under an Orange Warning for Wind, as Storm Brendan hits the country.  Met Éireann have issued the following forecast for the period 8am-3pm today, Monday 13th January.

As Storm Brendan tracks to the northwest of Ireland, southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 70 km/h with gusts of 100 to 120 km/h, higher in exposed areas.

Our phone lines remain open throughout the day so please call 0761 102020 to report any incidents, fallen trees etc.  We ask members of the public to please be aware of weather conditions and heed safety warnings from the various service providers.

Our Roads engineers will be monitoring the situation and be bringing sandbags when and if needed.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA), is asking road users to exercise caution while using the roads given the risk of strong winds and coastal flooding for the country due to Storm Brendan.   Control of a vehicle may be affected by strong cross winds. High sided vehicles and motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable to strong winds.
