Tom Casey 9 Parnell Street

Hi, my name is Tom Casey of 9 Parnell Street. We have an entrance to our premises on Spring Garden which we use every day as it is very hard to find parking on Parnell Street. We also have a camper van which we park in our garden. We park our car in our garden every night as it was a victim of vandalism while parked on Parnell Street on a few occasions.
For the past couple of years we have had to endure the imposition of having to come in past the rising bollards between 7pm and 7am. We have a fob on our car to allow us access but regularly we meet cars coming back from the bollards, going the wrong way down the one way street, causing us to reverse out into traffic to allow them exit. After they have bought their take away. Anyway that is another issue. I feel that it is very unfair to again penalize the residents of Spring Gardens because of where they live. I could not see anyone trying to close off access to Hillview Leoville or Grantstown village for 17 hours a day. It would not be tolerated . I have been living here for 40 years , my wife for 63 years and there are other residents who are here equally as long. I understand that we will have access but if we require a delivery, a visit or a builder they will not be able to get access. It would be great to have the area pedestrianised but because of the access I cannot support the proposal. I also find it deplorable that there was no consultation with the residents about the plan. It seems that the only people in the area that count are the business people.
