Deadline for Voter Registration – today, Wednesday 22nd January at 5pm

The deadline for addition to the Supplement to the Register of Electors is today, Wednesday January 22nd at 5pm.   If you have recently turned 18, and are an Irish or British citizen, you can register up to that time to be added to the Supplement to the Register of Electors.

An RFA2 form must be completed and stamped at a Garda station and then handed in to our offices at Bailey’s New Street or Dungarvan Civic Offices before close of business today Wednesday 22nd.

If you have previously voted, please double check on www.checktheregister.ie to ensure all details are correct.

Value your Vote! Register by Monday 25th November

Check the Draft Register of Electors by 25 November 2019
The Draft Register of Electors is on display at your City/County/City and County Council’s offices, Garda Stations, Libraries, Post Offices and online at www.checktheregister.ie until 25 November 2019.

If on 15 February 2020 you are aged 18 or over check that your name, address and
other details are present and correct on the Draft Register. If there is a mistake, tell
your local Council before 25 November 2019.

Information on being added to the Special Voters’ List

The “Special Voters List” is for people who have a physical disability or illness who are residing in hospitals, nursing homes or similar institutions and who wish to vote at these locations.

To qualify, an elector’s physical disability must be likely to continue for the duration of the register and prevent him/her from going to the polling station to vote. To apply, fill out the application form for entry onto the Special Voters’ List Form SV1.

Applications for inclusion on the Special Voters’ List must be made every year before 25th November. In the case of a first application, documentation must include a medical certificate.

Electors on the Special Voters’ List vote by marking a ballot paper delivered
to them by a special presiding officer, accompanied by a Garda.

Application forms are available above, on checktheregister.ie and from our Customer Services Departments in Bailey’s New Street, Waterford and Civic Offices, Davitt’s Quay, Dungarvan which are open from 9.30am – 4pm (Monday – Friday) and also from the
Corporate Department, City Hall, The Mall, Waterford.

To be included on the February 2020 Special Voters’ List, complete and return the completed form by 25th November, 2019 to the Customer Services Department or by post to: Register of Electors, Waterford City & County Council, City Hall, The Mall, Waterford.

Notice for Receipt of Local Election Nomination Papers

The deadline for registering as an Election candidate is 12 noon on Saturday, 4th May 2019.

  • The period for receipt of completed nomination papers commences at 9am on Monday, 29th April 2019 and runs until 12 noon on Saturday, 4th May 2019.

Prospective candidates must make a prior appointment for papers to be received by the Franchise Office at City Hall. Please call 0761 10 2695 for these appointments.
