Pedestrianisation of High St and Henrietta St

Following on from the recent granting of part 8 planning permission for changes to traffic flows and improvements to street finishes in Waterford city centre, the Waterford City and County Council intend to commence these works.  Full details of the proposed changes to the City Centre can be viewed at http://www.waterfordcouncil.ie/en/Resident/Planning/ForwardPlanning/UrbanRenewal/

The first stage of these works involves

·         the pedestrianisation of and pavement works to the portion of High Street from Keizer St to Henrietta St
·         the pedestrianisation of and pavement works to Henrietta St from the Quay to the Cathedral Place.
·         Making Henrietta St two way from Cathedral Place to Colbeck St.
·         Changing the direction of the one way Street on St Francis Place and Olaf St.

This will mean that vehicles will not be able to access St Francis Place and Olaf St from Lady Lane.  Vehicles wishing to access these streets will have to access the streets via Exchange St from the Quay, turning left on to High St and right onto Olaf Street.

Vehicles leaving Olaf Street and St Francis Place will have to exit left onto Lady Lane and right onto Colbeck St to the Mall.

Vehicles wishing to access the Cathedral Close apartments and Christchurch Cathedral will have to either from the Quay enter Exchange Street, left on to High Street, right to Olaf St, St Francis Place and left onto Lady Lane prior to entering Henrietta St which will now become two way over this section.

Vehicles leaving will exit as they currently do, via Colbeck Street, bearing in mind that this section of Henrietta St will be now two way.

Access for deliveries will be maintained to Henrietta St and High St during the works, and following completion.
