Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) 2020 & Historic Structures Fund (HSF) grants for 2020 availableThe Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has announced 2 funding schemes for Protected Structures – the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) 2020 and the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) 2020. Since 2016 Waterford has received over €900,000 in Department funding for its built heritage. This funding stream is designed to support owners and custodians caring for our built heritage and ensuring that it is protected into the future.
The primary focus of the Historic Structures Fund will be on conservation and enhancement of historic structures and buildings for the broader benefit of communities and the public. Funding for the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) is being made available as part of Project Ireland 2040. Total funding available nationally under the Historic Structures fund in 2020 will be €1,824,000.
Closing date for both applications is 5pm, 27th January 2020 and strictly no applications will be accepted after this date.

Cllr. John Pratt, Mayor of Waterford City & County Council will open a Book of Condolence today in the Civic Offices, Dungarvan, following the tragic passing of well-known local man, Danny McGrath.
Speaking of Mr. McGrath, Cllr. Pratt commented: “I am deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Danny McGrath, one of Dungarvan’s best known ambassadors. On behalf of the Councillors and staff of Waterford City & County Council, I send my deepest condolences to his partner and family on their tragic loss.”
The Mayor continued: “Danny was well known to all here in Dungarvan and indeed throughout Waterford and the Irish diaspora. He was the chief organiser of the successful McGrath Clan Gathering which brought visitors here from all around the world. He was a keen photographer, contributed frequently to newspapers and was a great supporter of Waterford sports. He was at the centre of so much positivity for Dungarvan … he will be sorely missed.”
The Book of Condolence will be open in the Civic Offices, Dungarvan at the following times: Today, 23rd December, until 4pm.

Statement: Waterford North Quays Planning ApplicationA planning application was lodged yesterday, the 17th of December, for development of lands on the 7.8 hectare site known as Waterford North Quays, Dock Road, Ferrybank, Waterford. The applicant is Falcon Real Estate Development Ireland Limited. The application relates to development in Waterford North Quays Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) and is subject to Waterford North Quays Planning Scheme 2018.
The proposed development comprises a mixed use development of 129,302sqm gross floor area. A ten year permission has been applied for. The application is currently subject to a validation process, with updates being published to the Council’s website www.waterfordcouncil.ie
The planning application is available for inspection at our offices in the Menapia Building, the Mall, Waterford and is also displayed online, with public submissions being invited up to the 29th of January 2020.

As Mayor of Waterford City and County Council, I would like to wish Senator Paudie Coffey all the best for future endeavours.
During his illustrious 20 year career, he has served as a member of Waterford County Council and as Deputy Mayor of County Waterford. He has served as a Minister for State and has also been a member of both the Dail and Seanad Eireann.
He has been a constant voice for Waterford and we wish him well.
