Public Consultation: Portlaw Courthouse Quarter
Waterford City and County Council are proposing a Part 8 development for the Portlaw Courthouse Quarter in Portlaw, County Waterford.
The proposal would see the former courthouse building repurposed into a community centre, Market Square upgraded and pedestrianised, and changes made to local road layouts to improve pedestrian access, parking and traffic flow.
Key elements of the proposal include:
- Transformation of the former courthouse into a new community centre with multi-use space, meeting rooms and changing facilities.
- Pedestrianisation of Market Square to serve as a civic public space.
- Road and traffic changes including:
- Narrowing of Factory Road to create a footpath, additional parking and electric vehicle charging stations.
- Traffic-calming measures at Malcomson Square with removal of roundabout in favour of a junction.
