About the Fire Service
Waterford Fire Service maintains round the clock emergency cover to protect life and property. The Fire Service covers the administrative areas of Waterford City & County Council and reciprocal agreements are in place with Cork County Council, South Tipperary County Council and Kilkenny County Council to provide additional cover within County Waterford, as required.
Waterford Fire Service attends an average of 1,500 incidents per year. These include fires, road traffic collisions, chemical spills and other emergency situations.
Fire Service Charges
Pursuant to Section 35(3) of the Fire Services Acts 1981 and 2003 and the provisions of the Local Government (Financial Provisions)(No.2) Act, 1983 and the Local Government Financial Provisions Act 2000, the following Fire Service charges will be levied by Waterford City and County Council.
Notes
a) A minimum charge of €550 will apply to each case covered by 4,5,6 and 7.
b) Hourly rates will be applied to the minute from time of alert to return to Fire Station and close down.
